The highway was dark, enveloped in a thick, eerie fog. On the side of the road, the flashing lights of a police cruiser cut through the gloom. A police officer stood by the open door of a car, his expression cold and unyielding.
Inside the car sat a young woman, heavily pregnant and visibly terrified. Tears streamed down her face as she clutched her belly, sobbing uncontrollably.
