A 1950s diner. Red booths. Jukebox glowing. A pregnant woman stands in the aisle, pleading: “I just want to sit down please just for a moment.” A woman in a sharp grey suit, arms crossed, shuts her down: “Whatever her situation, she simply cannot stay here.”
Tears spill as humiliation sets in. The whole diner watches.
Then a man in a dark three-piece suit stands. He walks to her side and says: “She saved my daughter’s life. You will treat her with respect.”
The woman in the suit’s face goes pale. Rage turns to shock. The pregnant woman breaks down — but this time, a hand rests on her shoulder.
