Some lessons in life are learned the hard way — and for three young thieves in Wirral, England, that lesson came from a 77-year-old woman named Winifred.
She had planned a quick trip to the ATM. As always, Winifred walked to her local cash machine to withdraw some money. The street was quiet, and the air carried a faint scent of rain. She had no idea that three men were watching her from a nearby car, looking for what they thought would be an easy target — a frail pensioner who wouldn’t fight back.
But Winifred was anything but frail.
